Casa Metellus is a four-bedroom semi-detached property, sleeping eight, and built in a traditional style – there are exposed wooden beams and many of the ceilings are finished with curved brick tiles. It has a comfortable and uncluttered feel and is located in a beautiful spot, with lovely views of the surrounding mountains and the villa’s gardens. It’s only a few minutes’ walk to the nearest golf course, or to Pollensa itself. There are great sandy beaches at Puerto Pollensa, or Cala San Vicente, both only a short drive away.
On the ground floor there is a simple, uncomplicated kitchen with table and chairs, decorated with pieces of traditional Mallorcan pottery, and double doors that take you out to the spectacular terrace immediately outside. The kitchen has everything you might need on holiday and doesn’t overdo it on modern gadgets.
Double doors take you from here through to the dining room – it has a large wooden table and plenty of room for everyone in your group. There’s the added feature of a wood burning stove and two cosy armchairs either side; the perfect spot to read your book or have coffee in the morning. Also on the ground floor is one of the double bedrooms and a family bathroom. From the dining room, curved stone stairs take you up to the first floor, where there is the master bedroom. It has extensive fitted wardrobes, and large double doors leading out to the veranda which overlooks the main entrance. There is also another double bedroom, and a twin bedroom on the first floor, along with another family bathroom.
Outside you’ll find a lovely garden, with steps leading to different levels. There’s plenty of grass for little ones to run around on, and a super private swimming pool with sun loungers beside it. With so much outdoor space, all you’ll need to do is decide whether you want to sunbathe, or sit under one of the covered terraces. The best bit about this villa is the outdoor kitchen – located directly off the main kitchen, it stretches the length of the house. It’s covered to protect you from the sun, and has exposed wooden beams and a sloping ceiling. There is a barbecue and an iron range here, along with a lovely wooden table and bench seating – it really is the place to relax in the evening while one of your party cooks local ingredients from the nearby market. There’s also a separate seating area further along from the outdoor kitchen – a great place to relax with a book, overlooking the garden and taking in the scenery.
