Villa Kamea is an elegant, sumptuous villa which has been meticulously designed and executed within the spirit of authentic Balinese design. Set within its own secluded and verdant grounds, fragrant with jasmine, tropical plants and mystical statues and ceramics, it has access to the wider resort facilities for a perfect blend of convenience and privacy.
This stunning home provides four double bedrooms, each with its own fabulous open air bathroom – whilst the turquoise pool and lush grounds frame such a lovely, tranquil setting.
Traditional Balinese buildings seek to harmonise with the environment: they are built almost entirely of organic materials, using bamboo, teak, coconut wood, thatch and stone – Balinese people are known for their artistry. The result is a centuries-old style of design that’s heavily influenced by Bali’s Hindu traditions, as well as ancient Javanese elements.
Set spaciously apart yet together, the “villa” is made up of a series of “joglos” (separate pavilions which are unique to the island.) The living spaces offer relaxed, “open plan” living, divided into large, sociable spaces and quiet corners for privacy and downtime. Constructed in natural tones, teak and stone – staying here is a sensory journey! Lovingly and expertly designed by its American artist-photographer-jeweller owner, every little extra touch of care has been provided.
The living spaces are enormous, yet cosy – the high ceilings and large banquette style seating areas with vibrantly coloured scatter cushions make this an ideal space for socialising with groups or as a family. The pond with its water lilies is in keeping with the spiritual mysticism of the dwelling, whilst the owner’s artwork and photography bring a characterful touch. The gardens are mysterious and lush; totalling three thousand square meters.
The bedrooms are private and luxuriant; wonderful large four poster beds with crisp, quality bedlinen and beautiful views with the scent of jasmine and coconut wood make every element of this home a sensory experience. Accents of subtle colour and ethnic rugs give each room its own particular atmosphere.
For “downtime”, there is a pool table—games area, again in the traditional local timber, every aspect of this home is “at one” with the local heritage; there is a television corner, and the wonderful open air baths provide the ultimate liberated relaxation!
The mysterious and mystical gardens with Hindu statues, water features and flowering plants make this a peaceful idyll away from the bustling outdoor world.
